Cape Manzamo (万座毛) is a popular sightseeing destination located in Onna Village, on the western coast of Okinawa Main Island. The name “Manzamo” roughly means “a field where ten thousand people can sit,” a name said to have been given by a Ryukyu king who admired the area’s wide grassy plateau.
The most famous feature of Cape Manzamo is the large cliff rock formation that resembles an elephant’s trunk when viewed from certain angles. Below the cliffs, visitors can see the beautiful emerald-blue waters of the East China Sea crashing against the rugged coastline.
