DESCRIPTION

Namba (難波) is the heart of Osaka’s entertainment, shopping, and dining scene. Located in southern Osaka, the area is known for its energetic atmosphere, colorful neon lights, and endless variety of attractions.

The most famous landmark in Namba is the Glico Running Man Sign, which overlooks the Dotonbori Canal. First installed in 1935, this giant billboard has become a symbol of Osaka and one of Japan’s most photographed tourist attractions. Taking a photo in front of the sign is considered a must-do activity for visitors.

Namba is also home to the bustling Dotonbori district, where visitors can experience Osaka’s famous food culture. The area is filled with restaurants, street food stalls, and local eateries serving Osaka specialties such as Takoyaki (octopus balls) and Okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancakes).

Just north of Namba lies Shinsaibashi Shopping Street, one of Osaka’s premier shopping destinations. Stretching for hundreds of meters, the covered arcade features international brands, local boutiques, cosmetics stores, fashion outlets, and souvenir shops.

In addition to shopping and dining, Namba offers a vibrant nightlife scene with bars, karaoke venues, entertainment centers, and theaters, making it one of the liveliest areas in Osaka both day and night.

Whether you're looking for local food, shopping, sightseeing, or nightlife, Namba provides the perfect introduction to Osaka’s energetic culture.
